Breast Cancer Awareness Game

The Nebo United U-16 Team dedicated their game on October 10th against Fusion FC to Breast Cancer Awareness in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The team wore pink shoelaces, pink numbers, and sprayed Coach Draper and Coach Fallon's heads pink.  They played with a pink ball and awarded the game ball and one other ball with the player's signatures to one of our club mothers, LaDonna Madson, who is a Breast Cancer survivor.  The other ball was awarded to Nancy Swenson, also a breast cancer survivor and avid Payson soccer fan and supporter.  The final score was 3 to 1 for a Nebo United Victory.

Approximately one in every nine women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer, according to BYU’s Cancer Research Center’s Web site. The latest statistics say 192,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and 40,000 will die from breast cancer.  Cancer awareness is not only necessary for women, but for men as well.  One in two males will have cancer sometime in their life and everyone needs to get involved in this movement.  (Universe.edu.BYU, http://universe2.byu.edu/node/2976)
